The Student-Youth Science Fair, 2018 was organized successfully with great enthusiasm. The two-tier programme initiates from the District Level which was organized during the period from 12-15 September, 2018 across the state and the State Level Student-Youth Science Fair was organized on & from 26-28 September, 2018 at the Netaji Indoor Stadium, Kolkata.
 
Shri Partha Chattopadhyay, Hon’ble Minister in Charge, Department of School Education, Higher Education, Science & Technology and Bio-technology inaugurated the State Level Science Fair on 26th September at 11 am. Shri Laxmi Ratan Shukla, Hon’ble Minister of State, Department of Youth Services & Sports chaired the programme. Prof. Suranjan Das, Vice Chancellor of Jadavpur University, Prof. Muhammad Ali, Vice Chancellor of Aliah University, Prof. Saikat Maitra, Vice Chancellor of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, Prof. Dhrubajyoti Chattopadhyay, Vice Chancellor, Amity University, Dr. Maitree Bhattacharya, Director, JBNSTS, Sk. Emdadul Islam, Director, BITM, Shri Surajit Roy, WBCS (Exe.), Director of Youth Services and Sayeed Ahmed Baba, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Youth Services & Sports were among the guests and dignitaries present in the three day long Science Fair. Prof. Dr. Samir Pal, Scientist, S.N. Bose National Centre For Basic Sciences and Prof. Dr. Dipankar Banerjee, Scientist, Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore participated in the ‘Meet the Scientist’ programme. There was also a Science Quiz Contest in the fair. Shri Aroop Biswas, Hon’ble Minister in Charge, Department of Youth Services & Sports kindly presided over the Valediction and Prize Distribution Ceremony at 3 pm on 28th September, 2018.
 
In the District Level Science Fair total nos. of participants were 4,122.
 
190 nos. of Science Models prepared by students from 139 nos. of schools, 44 nos. of colleges and 7nos. of post graduate colleges of our state participated in the State Level Science Fair this year. In the Non-Competitive category of Exceptional Science Models 13 nos. of models were exhibited.
